I attended a very interesting online presentation on Estate Planning, but one of the most fascinating parts related to our "online presence". Specifically, what happens to your digital assets after you pass away?
One idea that was raised was setting up a Legacy Contact for your iPhone, which will allow a loved one to capture pictures and other items that you may have stored. Here's a great article from Apple talking about how to do this:
How to Add a Legacy Contact to Apple ID
Another important idea that was raised was encouraging people to use a Password Keeper. Some of the more popular ones are Dashlane, RoboForm, 1Password, and Bitwarden. By doing this, all you need to do is share the master password with your loved one and they would be able to access your whole library of passwords should the need arise.
Understanding where physical assets like investment accounts and personal articles is one part of estate planning, but this is a whole additional area that deserves attention.
Please let us know if you have any questions at all.
